A consulting engineering firm based in Atlanta, Georgia, GCA is a leading specialist in traffic engineering and intelligent transportation systems, focussing on providing transport strategies for optimising the movement of people, goods and services.

UK-based TRL’s Traffic and Software Business Unit provides consultancy and develops world leading traffic control systems such as SCOOT, MOVA, and TRANSYT Online. TRL also developed the offline signal optimisation and coordination package TRANSYT 14 and its well-used roundabout analysis software – ARCADY.

Jim Gray, principal engineer at GCA, said, “Partnering with TRL is a unique opportunity which provides us and our clients with access to a global perspective as it relates to the transportation engineering field.  It also expands the staff that we have access to overnight, while retaining the flexibility of the size of our organization”.

Gavin Jackman, Head of Traffic and Software at TRL, said, “The GCA relationship has been growing over the last few years and this agreement allows us to take a step change in our joint approach. We look forward to working closely together during this exciting period.

“TRL’s Traffic and Software Business Unit has grown its markets steadily year on year over the last five years, and this latest move allows us to progress further with our strategy with a reliable and knowledgeable partner.”
