The 5456 Traffic Tech Group has received the Golden Award for Excellence & Quality in the Arab World from the 5235 Arab Administrative Development Organisation (ARADO) and has also won the award for Infrastructure Project for Improving Road Safety at last week’s 2011 224 Gulf Traffic Awards.

ARADO, an organisation affiliated with the Arab League, held the prestigious awards ceremony on 4 December, co-organised by the Tatweej Academy, and under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, at the Armani Hotel, Burj Khalifa, Dubai.

Among the factors in Traffic Tech Group winning the Golden Award are the company’s milestones and achievements in the traffic and transportation industry in the Middle East, its ISO certified quality management system, and previous awards received from distinguished government agencies and organisations. Husam Musharbash, president and CEO of the Traffic Tech Group, received the award from His Highness Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.

Meanwhile Traffic Tech’s Gulf Traffic award was given for the Salwa truck weigh stations project. The company designed, built, and to date operates six complete truck weigh stations as part of the Salwa Highway’s 3278 ITS project, a road that links Doha to the Saudi border. The truck weigh stations aim to increase traffic safety and reduce road maintenance cost through prevention of accidents and road damage caused by overloaded vehicles. During the construction of the fixed weigh stations, Traffic Tech also operated portable/mobile enforcement scales in cooperation with the Qatar Police to enforce legal truck weights, and start educating truck drivers and owners on the importance of adhering to the legal limits. Overall, the project realized the drop of over-weight violations from over 83 per cent in 2007 to less than one per cent by December 2011.

Traffic Tech’s Infrastructure Project for Improving Road Safety Gulf Traffic Award is the second time in row that the company has won a prestigious Gulf Traffic award; the first was in 2009 for Innovation in Traffic Management. On top of this year’s award, the company has also been Highly Commended for the Innovation in Parking Award category and was shortlisted for two other Gulf Traffic nominated projects.
