Steady road safety improvement in France

France continues to see a steady road safety improvement.

Road safety continues to improve in France as the latest official data reveals. There has been a 16.8% drop in road deaths in France for the period from 2010-2019. Meanwhile, the number of road crashes has dropped by 18.7% between 2010 and 2019.

Of note is that there has been a 47% drop in road deaths for people aged less than 18 in France for the 2010-2019 period. There has also been a 34% drop in road deaths for those people aged 18-24. This is significant, as young people are typically those at amongst highest risk on the roads in many countries.

In marked contrast, for the period 2010-2019 road deaths increased by 17% for people aged 55-64 and 20% for those aged 65-74.
