Slovakia tenders for Visnove IT systems

The deal is likely to be worth around €71.5 million and bids can be submitted until October 25.

Slovakia’s national motorway operator NDS has tendered for tunnel and vehicle IT equipment for the Visnove Tunnel, set to be the country’s longest at 7.5km.

The deal is expected to be worth around €71.5 million and bids can be submitted until 25 October 2022.

The contract also includes IT equipment for the D1 motorway stretch Lietavska Lucka - Visnove - Dubna Skala of which the tunnel is a part. But the tunnel project has suffered delays, technical and contractual.

Drainage issues have been appearing because of construction stoppages.

Work started on what will be Slovakia’s longest tunnel in June 2015. It is also part of the Corridor 5 of the Trans-European Networks (TEN) which links Bratislava with Uzhhorod in Ukraine and is financed by the Slovakian government and the European Union through the European Investment Bank.

    In Slovakia plans are being made for a new project that will become the country’s longest tunnel when it is complete. Salini Impregilo is the contractor heading the project.
