Philippines expressway stretch opening

A key stretch of a new expressway in the Philippines is opening shortly.

A stretch of the new expressway connecting Tarlac with La Union via Pangasinan will open shortly in the Philippines. The 11km stretch of the route should open on 15th July.

In all, the expressway connecting Tarlac with La Union will run for just over 88km. Opening this new route will reduce journey times considerably. At present driving between the two takes three hours. Once the expressway opens, the journey time will be just one hour.

The proposed NLEx-Cavitex Port Expressway Link will provide a connection between the North Luzon Expressway and Manila-Cavite Expressway. The project to build the link is expected to cost US$1.73 billion, with work being carried out in three stages of 5.7km, 4.8km and 4.6km.     A new stretch of highway is now opening to traffic in India. The 80km stretch of highway runs between Kundli and through Manesar to Palwal. Called the KMP Expressway, the route has had something of a checkered history and has been completed somewhat later than originally intended. The concession was originally awarded in 2006 and the road should have been completed in 2009, according to the planned timeline.
