Philippines expressway stretch opening

A key stretch of a new expressway in the Philippines is opening shortly.

A stretch of the new expressway connecting Tarlac with La Union via Pangasinan will open shortly in the Philippines. The 11km stretch of the route should open on 15th July.

In all, the expressway connecting Tarlac with La Union will run for just over 88km. Opening this new route will reduce journey times considerably. At present driving between the two takes three hours. Once the expressway opens, the journey time will be just one hour.

The 58km-long expressway will improve transport between the Southern Tagalog and Bicol Regions, reducing journey times for drivers while also improving safety. The first section of the Southern Luzon Expressway-Toll Road 4 (SLEX-TR4) to be built will be between Star Toll and Lucena, lying to the south of Manila. The SLEX-TR4 route is being constructed by South Luzon Tollways, itself a subsidiary of the firm San Miguel.

  • Florida Turnpike improvements underway

    A series of improvement works are being carried out in various parts of Florida, in a bid to improve traffic flow. Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is starting work to widen the 11km stretch of Florida Turnpike between Boynton Beach Boulevard and Lake Worth Road. This project will see the highway stretch being widened so that it boosts capacity, with the Hypoluxo Bridge also having to be rebuilt accordingly.
