Brazilian Construction company 1305 Odebrecht says it aims to use revenues generated from its new US road construction contract and further potential Stateside work to boost its global turnover.

The company’s new US$45.8million contract involves the renovation of the Sam Houston Tollway between Route 59 and Route 288 in the southern area of Harris County, Texas.

The US market currently accounts for 1% of Odebrecht's turnover in the construction sector but the firm is also keen to win other Texas contracts, as state leaders are said to be lining up projects worth $1billion in roads contracts.

Earmarked expansion of some ports in US is said to also attract interest from Odebrecht. The capacity to handle Post Panamax ships has urged local port authorities to get involved in dredging work projects.

Odebrecht is also involved in the construction of the North Terminal of Miami International Airport, and it is participating on the construction of a dyke system to cater for water generated by floods in New Orleans.
