New roads for Oman's port project

Tenders are being received for a project to expand Duqm Port in Oman, with a key part of the plans including road projects.

Tenders are being received for a project to expand Duqm Port in Oman, with a key part of the plans including road projects. The project is worth some US$175 million. The road portion of the project includes building dual carriageways with one, two and three lanes in either direction. The roads total 37km in length. Other portions of the project include drainage for the roads and lighting.

The Polish General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) is signing contracts worth over €753.55 mIllion for the construction of two S7 dual carriageway sections. These will form part of the Gdansk-Warsaw route. Czech firm Metrostav will build the 20km section between Koszwaly and Nowy Dwor Gdanski. And Budimex will construct the 19km section between Nowy Dwor Gdanski and Kazimierzowo.

The country's Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has given clearance to six projects worth a total of US%813.33 million. The projects that have gained approval include construction, rehabilitation and improvement of the 174.14km long Kohlu-Sibi Road. The design and construction portions of the US$1.17 billion project will be handled by Qatar bin Oman Trading and Contracting (Qatar bin Omran) and QDVC.
