A key new road project is being planned in Indonesia.

A key new road project is being planned in Indonesia. The project is for a 39km toll road linking Pemalang with Batang and construction work is expected to commence in mid 2012. The finance structure for the Pemalang-Batang toll road project is still being established however. In addition to this project Indonesia;s Toll Road Authority is planning the 25km Cimanngis-Cibitung toll road and 57.5km Pejagan-Pemalang toll roads at present.

    A new tolled bridge link is planned for Indonesia’s East Kalimantan. The tender process is opening for the North Penajam Paser-Balikpapan toll bridge project. Building the bridge is expected to cost in the order of US$1.02 billion. The structure and the road connections needed will be around 7.35km long. Building the bridge will cut journey times between Balikpapan and North Panajam from as much as 120 minutes at present to just 10 minutes when the structure is complete.

    Key highway projects are being planned for Indonesia. The Indonesian firm Wijaya Karya (Wika) will work on three toll road projects in the country worth just over US$922 million. The projects are for the Samarinda-Balikpapan, Manado-Bitung and the Soreang-Pasirkoja routes. The firm hopes to fund the projects using a mix of state and private funding.   • New Indonesian toll road will be PPP

    In Indonesia plans are well in hand for the development of the new Pekanbaru-Dumai toll road project. The 134km road will cost US$896 million to construct and will be carried out under the PPP model. Agreements have been sealed to start work on freeing the land needed for the project. The land compensation process is due for completion by December 2011.
