Netherlands traffic congestion growing

Traffic congestion is seeing an increase in the Netherlands as the economy improves, according to the mobility institute Kennisinstituut voor Mobiliteitsbeleid. The congestion is expected to increase the travel time by 45% by the end of 2020. In total the congestion is expected to increase by 20% in 2015 compared with 2014.

    A new proposal for congestion charging in Los Angeles has been put forward as a possible solution to the city’s traffic woes. The CEO of the Los Angeles Metro system has suggested that a congestion charge for drivers could be used to allow riders to use the city’s transit system for free. Under the proposed scheme, drivers would be charged for entering certain districts of the city at peak travel periods.     Official UK Government figures reveal that convictions for traffic offences in England and Wales have been steadily increasing since 2013. Of concern is that there has been a 52% increase in convictions for dangerous driving in that period. There were guilty verdicts for 1.2 million traffic offences in 2006, according to an analysis of the data by IAM RoadSmart.
