Montreal's major interchange project

A major project to rebuild Montreal's busy Turcot Interchange in Canada now looks set to go ahead, having been approved by the city council.

A major project to rebuild Montreal's busy Turcot Interchange in Canada now looks set to go ahead, having been approved by the city council. Costing some US$3.01 billion (C$3 billion), the work is needed as the capacity of the interchange is stretched given the volume of traffic it has to handle. At present around 290,000 vehicles/day use the interchange and this is expected to continue to grow and top 304,000 vehicles/ day. The construction of the new Turcot Interchange will be carried out in the 2012-2018 period. The final approval for the work has yet to be given while the tendering process for the project has yet to be announced.

  • Bidding is underway for a major highway deal in Canada

    Bidding is underway on the project to uprgade Montreal’s Turcot interchange, a project expected to be worth some US$3.02 billion (C$3 billion). Canadian construction contractor SNC-Lavalin has selected Louisbourg SBC as part of the Groupe Futur Turcot consortium that is bidding for the project. Infrastructure Quebec has released the names of all five bidders for the Turcot project. The interchange carries some 300,000 vehicles/day and is one of the busiest in the country.

  • Plans to extend highway 427 in Canada

    Plans are in hand in Canada to extend Highway 427 by 6.6km. The final decision over the project has yet to be made by the Ontario Government. The work is expected to cost in the region of C$500 million (US$491 million) to carry out. The work is required as the highway carries a heavy traffic volume and the extension will help reduce congestion in the surrounding area. The work should commence in 2017 once the necessary approvals have been given and the construction would then require an estimated 36 months.
