French funding will finance a key contract in Cameroon. The French development agency (2825 AFD) will provide a loan worth US$84 million to Cameroon that finance a road development project in Douala. The aim of the project will be to improve transport links around the city of Douala as well as to improve road safety. A 19km stretch of road will be improved as part of the project to ease traffic flow, with work including provision for pedestrians, and special lanes for transit vehicles, local drivers and buses and taxis. Work is due to begin in July 2011.
