Hungary will open a spur of the M1 this spring to Rajka where it will cross into Slovakia as a dual carriageway.

Hungary’s M1 runs northwest from the capital Budapest, past Gyor and then to the border with Austria – also near the town of Rajka. At the border with Austria Hungary’s M1 joins Austria’s Ost Autobahn A4 - Eastern Motorway - to the capital Vienna.

Both motorways are part of European route E60.

By running the M1 to Rajka, Hungary has created a dual carriageway from Budapest straight through to the Slovakian capital Bratislava.
