A study will be carried out in Finland for a new highway link intended to reduce road congestion and increase safety for users. The study is receiving 3287 EU funding and will cover a construction plan for the E18 Hamina bypass. This will receive €1.25 million of TEN-T funding and the project will run until December 2011. The study forms part of Priority Project 12, the Nordic Triangle railway and road axis. Some 50% of the cost of the study is being funded by the TEN-T programme. Once complete the road will stretch from Helsinki to the Russian border and will boost capacity and increase safety.
