The Czech Republic has tendered for construction of a 12km section of the D6 motorway in Karlovy Vary worth around €208.63 million.

The D6, when completed, will go from Prague through Karlovy Vary and Cheb to the border with Germany. Its first segment was opened in 1980s.

Meanwhile, the government will start looking for a concessionaire for the D35 motorway project in the third quarter of this year when the qualification round for the project will be announced. The two longest missing sections of the motorway will be financed and built by the private sector as part of the public-private project. Last month it was reported that a year after the start of construction, the Czech Republic’s first and only road public-private partnership is on schedule for opening in early 2025. Since 2021, VINCI Highways has led ViA SALis, the consortium for constructing and operating the 32km-long D4 Via Salis. The motorway will link Příbram in central Bohemia to Písek, southern Bohemia. ViA SALis is a 50/50 venture between VINCI and Meridiam.
