Collection of motorway tolls in the Czech Republic will increase by 25 per cent to US$420 million in 2011, according to the Roads and Motorways Directorate (RSD). The average monthly collection is about $35.75 million. The best month was March with $37 million, followed by September with $36.54 million. However, it has been pointed out that while the collection was growing by 25 per cent year-on-year in spring 2011, the growth slowed down to 15 per cent in autumn 2011. In five years since introducing the motorway tolls, over $1.63 billion has been collected but Karel Feix, a director of 259 Kapsch which operates the toll system, estimates that the revenue in the next five years could exceed $2.55 billion because of higher prices, more traffic and more tolled roads.
