Colombian city Cali is spending a healthy US$300 million on major road infrastructure projects. These are scheduled to commence in the second half of 2010.

Colombian city Cali is spending a healthy US$300 million on major road infrastructure projects. These are scheduled to commence in the second half of 2010. The Cali city council has been the target of criticism for the projects but says that the work is necessary to reduce congestion and improve road safety in the city.

The US$163.2 million package of works has been approved by Panama's National Economic Council (CENA). Of the sum budgeted, $127 million will be for the construction work while $35 million will be required for property expropriations. The road works form part of a contract the Panama Government is signing with Concesionaria Madden-Colon.

    In Malaysia the government is setting aside a budget for a major package of road construction works in Sabah. The three new road upgrades will help ease traffic congestion at peak periods and the Works Ministry plans to open the tender process shortly.
