Traffic jams have reached record levels in Belgium, according to the latest official data.

Traffic jams have reached record levels in Belgium, according to the latest official data. According to 3543 Touring Mobilis, Belgium experienced 49 hours of traffic jams of over 300km in 2010, setting a new record. In 2009 Belgium saw 24 hours of traffic jams and in 2008 there were seven hours and 40 minutes of traffic jams over 300km long. The country provides an important through route for traffic in Europe as it is close some of the largest and busiest ports in the world, resulting in enormous numbers of heavy vehicles crossing the nation carrying goods.
