Australian project in hand

Plans are now well in hand for Australia's new Hill M2 highway in Sydney.

Plans are now well in hand for Australia's new Hill M2 highway in Sydney. An agreement has been struck by the authorities in New South Wales (NSW) and road tolling firm the 3365 Transurban Group for the project. Construction work for the US$544 million (A$550 million) project is expected to start in December of this year and is due for completion in 2013. Much of the work will be carried out by 2685 Leighton Contractors.

    Work is underway on the Causeway Upgrade Project in New Zealand. The US$183.3 million (NZ$220 million) contract was awarded by the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA). The route forms part of State Highway 16, with the fork being part of Auckland's Western Ring Route. The contract was awarded to the Causeway Alliance, a consortium made up of Aecom, Coffey Geotechnics, Fulton Hogan, Leighton Contractors, Sinclair Knight Merz and the NZTA.

    Plans are in hand in Mexico for a new road tunnel that will provide a key link. The 7km tunnel will be constructed at Acapulco port, in Guerrero state. The project is expected to cost in the order of US$214.75 million to complete. Work is due to commence in late January 2013 and should be completed within a two year time scale. The new tunnel will help improve logistics and communications for firm using the port. The project is being carried out by Mexican contractor ICA.
