Ultra-high visibility is claimed for the new signs thanks to 3M sheeting
Using the latest technology from 152 3M has helped UK sign-maker 2372 Morelock to achieve the new European harmonised standard BS EN 12899:2007 for fixed vertical road traffic signs. The signs also feature the CE mark and use the latest 3M reflective sheeting.

This new standard is very thorough and includes an assessed factory production control (FPC), in-line test, calculation of post and foundation details to comply with wind loading and independent product testing.

Meanwhile Morelock's own branded substrate material, MPGRP, was also submitted to for product initial type testing, and passed.

Using geosynthetics for soil reinforcement is highly effective but requires a high quality and trusted geogrid. When it comes to deciding which geogrid is best for a specific project, a number of product parameters must be taken into account. In the design of steep slopes, the most important parameter is the available long term design strength (Pdes). Recently, Colbond has significantly increased this factor for its high performance Enkagrid product, recognised with a newly updated BBA (British Board of Ag

The concrete road paving market continues to develop - Mike Woof reports Concrete road paving technology continues to evolve, with new equipment and techniques coming to market. Although concrete road construction has been used for many years, problems with early generation technologies affected this market segment. The first concrete roads were constructed in sections, which led to problems at joints but these were addressed many years ago with the advent of slipform paving. Concrete roads constructed in t

Special fabrics are often used in civil engineering works, including highways, to make soil stronger Geosynthetics have been used in roadway construction for thousands of years with natural materials being mixed with soil to improve quality and stability. While today's products are much more sophisticated, the principles are the same. For example, when used with soil, geotextiles (permeable fabrics) can filter, separate, reinforce, protect, or drain, and they are often made from polypropylene or polyester,
