Control of each of the Redtech series lights has never been easier, thanks to Bluetooth and the Airstar light app for mobile phones

Lighting system manufacture Airstar says that its latest LED balloon lighting series, the Sirocco Redtech, is ideally suited to road construction, especially paving work.

For the safety and work zone market, the company, based in Champ-près-Froges, near Grenoble in southern France, claims that Redtech lights have the highest light output, the lowest power consumption and are physically the lightest of all its competitors.

Control of each light has never been easier, thanks to Bluetooth and the Airstar light app. Light appearances and intensities, such as dimming, are controlled by using a mobile phone and lights can be operated as a group set-up or singularly. Options include having light emit as in a beacon or as pulsed emissions to suit every safety requirement of roadworks anywhere, anytime.

The average LED life expectancy is around 50,000 hours. Importantly, the balloons themselves are made of flame-retardant material.

All four of the Redtech lights within the series can be set up from 1.6-5.3m high (5-18 feet). Even when set up and in position, they can be easily moved. They are easily transported in a single carry bag and take only minutes to set up. The glare-free lighting is diffused and covers 360°. The balloons are also rain, dust and wind resistance up to 100kph (60mph).

At the entry level is the Sirocco 400 Redtech which covers nearly 2,000m² (21,130 ft²) of area. It’s maximum lumens is 33,000 with a lighting efficiency directly under the balloon of 155 lux. Maximum power is 250W. Available voltage is 100-240V AC at 50-60Hz. The power supply can be mains or a 1kVA generator.

The entire 5.6kg (12 lb) 400 Redtech system packs neatly into a single carry bag, measuring just 86cm x 30cm x 30cm (33 x 11 x 11 inches).

Meanwhile, at the higher end of the series is the powerful Sirocco 1300 Redtech. It puts out 132,000 lumens to cover a huge area of 6,500m² (69,965ft²). Lighting efficiency directly under the balloon 704 lux. Maximum power is 920W. Power can come from the mains or a 2kVA generator.

For transport, the 9.4kg (20 lbs) Sirocco 1300 Redtech system can be packed into its carry bag measuring 108cm x 30cm x 30cm (42 x 11 x 11 inches).

Airstar was set up in 1994 and its first balloon lights were inflated with helium and lit with a light bulb. The company now has 22 offices in 13 countries, one production site in France and around 60 employees and 70 distributors worldwide. Around 60 per cent of its products are exported.
