Repairs, rebuilding and revamp for Russian roads

A major programme of repairs and rebuilding is being carried out on Russian roads in the country’s North-Western Federal District during 2014. In all close to US$144 million is being spent in a programme of works with upgrading 258 separate infrastructure projects. The work is being carried out on 293km of public roads in all, while work is planned on a further 400km of roads during 2015.

In all close to US$144 million is being spent in a programme of works with upgrading 258 separate infrastructure projects.   • Rebuilding Russian bridges

    Calls are being made in Russia for investment into rebuilding small bridges. According to the Saint Petersburg Association of Road Complex Enterprises, ASDOR, around US$1.95 billion is required to upgrade, repair or improve small bridges across the country. ASDOR’s research suggests that on average, one small bridge collapses every day in the country.

  • India’s highway financing programme planned

    A budget of US$8.97 billion has been set as the limit on borrowing for India’s highways development programme for the 2017-2018 fiscal year. The financing agreement has been made by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), acting through the country’s Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. This substantial budget comes in spite of fewer projects being awarded as well as less financing having been secured during 2016.     Road rebuilding work will be carried out on major road links in Angola’s capital Luanda. The projects are worth US$125.46 million in all and have been approved by the Government of Angola. One contract worth $78.4 million will be handled by the Portuguese contractor Mota Engil and involves repairs and improvements to roads in and around the city.
