Repairs, rebuilding and revamp for Russian roads

A major programme of repairs and rebuilding is being carried out on Russian roads in the country’s North-Western Federal District during 2014. In all close to US$144 million is being spent in a programme of works with upgrading 258 separate infrastructure projects. The work is being carried out on 293km of public roads in all, while work is planned on a further 400km of roads during 2015.

In all close to US$144 million is being spent in a programme of works with upgrading 258 separate infrastructure projects. Tenders for 13 projects covering work to repair, upgrade and widen over 2,000km of roads have already been revealed.     In Germany North Rhine-Westphalia is planning a major programme of road repairs and maintenance works. Upgrading and widening work will also be carried out. A massive budget of €20 billion has been set for the work, which will be carried out on the key Autobahn and Bundesstrasse (highway and key trunk route) links in the area. In all, 200 projects are being planned for the state.

    The authorities in Moscow intend to invest in new roads, repairs and maintenance in a bid to tackle the city’s road connections and pothole problems. The repairs and maintenance will be carried out in and around the city. Some 180km of roads and 50km of highways will be either constructed or rebuilt during 2012. Some US$650 million has been budgeted for the work, some 2.5 times the sum spent during last year. Around 64km of highways will be built and repaired by 2015.
