Plans proposed for Paraguayan projects

Plans are moving forward in Paraguay for several key projects. The Costanera II road project will be put out to tender at the end of 2014. The project is likely to cost in the region of $100 million. Also due to go out to tender is the project for a new bridge linking Paraguay with neighbouring Brazil, which is expected to cost some $172 million. Plans are moving forward in Paraguay for several key projects. The Costanera II road project will be put out to tender at the end of 2014. The project is likely to cost in the region of $100 million. Also due to go out to tender is the project for a new bridge linking Paraguay with neighbouring Brazil, which is expected to cost some $172 million. And in a loan of $134 million will pay for improvements to the Pilar-Alberdi road, costing $120 million, and the Puente Remanso Castillo-Puerto Falcon road in Paraguay’s Plata Basin, costing $14 million.

    A series of road projects is now being funded in Paraguay due to financing being provided by the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB). Paraguay’s Ministry of Public Works and Communications is scheduling new road projects in the eastern part of the country during the first half of 2015. The US$105 million IADB loan will pay for 400kms of new roads and 2km of new bridges, with much of the work being carried out in rural areas.

    Bidding for Paraguay’s route II and route VII Ypacarai-Pastoreo road expansion project has been postponed. Instead Paraguay’s Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) says that the bidding will commence on 29th June 2016. This delay follows requests by some participants in this process. However, this is the fourth time that the opening of the bidding for the project has been delayed.
