Philippinies plans programme of PPP projects

The authorities in the Philippines have given preliminary approval for a series of major PPP projects. One of these five key PPP projects is for the expansion of the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway. The projects still need the approval of the board of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).

In all the work is expected to require US$9.59 billion and is for six highway projects, with one in Kalimantan and five in Java. The project in Kalimantan is for the Bontang-Samarinda Highway. In Java the highway projects are for links from Cileunyi-Tasikmalaya-Cilacap stretching 183km, Bawen-Yogyakarta, Kamal-Balaraja-Teluknaga stretching 48.3km, Semanan-Balaraja stretching 31.7km and Semarang-Demak.

    Approval has been given for Vietnam’s Hoa Binh-Moc Chau expressway project. The go ahead has been given by Vietnam’s Government. The project has an estimated cost of US$881 million and is planned as a public-private partnership. The construction work is expected to take 42 months and the new route will connect Hoa Binh to Moc Chau. When complete the expressway will cut the journey time between Hanoi and Moc Chau by around two hours.
