New Thailand highways to link cities

A series of major highways in Thailand will link key cities. The work is planned to be carried out over the next five years. The contracts are worth a total of US$3.6 billion. New highways will connect Kanchanaburi and Nonthaburi as well as Nakhon Ratchasima and Ayutthaya. Work on the Nakhon Ratchasima - Ayutthaya highway is expected to commence in May 2016 according to the Transport Ministry. Meanwhile work on the Kanchanaburi – Nonthaburi highway is expected to commence in December 2016.

Several selected plans will then be presented to the cabinet in mid-December 2015. A total of five public-private partnership (PPP) ventures are among projects that will be re-submitted to the cabinet for approval. Two of these PPP projects are highways that will cost an estimated US$3.9 billion.

  • Thailand tenders for infrastructure

    Thailand's Transport Ministry is opening the tender process for over US$9.87 billion worth of infrastructure projects. Included amongst the 11 projects being put out to tender are the 98km Bang Yai-Kanchanaburi and 196km Bang Pa-in-Saraburi-Nakhon Ratchasima highways. These two highway projects both have values in excess of $865.75 million. Meanwhile plans to open the tender for the Tao Pun-Rat Burana highway extension project will open between December 2016 and May 2017.
