New Indonesia toll road seeks funding

Financing for a 240km toll road project that will connect Padang with Pekanbaru in Indonesia still needs to be finalised. A combination of loans from the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) and PPP funding is expected to pay for the project. In all the project is expected to cost US$2.63 billion, with construction work intended to start in 2018.

Financing for a 240km toll road project that will connect Padang with Pekanbaru in Indonesia still needs to be finalised. A combination of loans from the Japan International Co-operation Agency (6706 JICA) and PPP funding is expected to pay for the project. In all the project is expected to cost US$2.63 billion, with construction work intended to start in 2018. The new road link will reduce travel time on the route from Padang to Bukittinggi and through to Pekanbaru from 8-10 hours at present to 3-4 hours in the future.

    Indonesia is going ahead with three toll road concessions in West Java, according to the head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency, Herry Trisaputra Zuna. The three toll roads - Cileunyi-Banjar; Ciranjang-Padalarang; and Sukabumi-Ciranjang - will need total investment of up US$1.54 billion, he said.     In Ethiopia the construction of two new road links will be carried out by Chinese and Spanish contractors. The Ethiopia Roads Authority (ERA) awarded a contract worth close to US$48 million to Hunan Huanda Road and Bridge Corporation of China to build a 48.3km road in the south of the country.
