A series of road projects is being awarded in Nepal. The announcements over the winning tenders for 13 projects is being made in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. Financing worth US$300 million is being provided from Indian sources.
Plans are moving forward with regard to the Iloilo-Guimaras-Negros Bridge in the Philippines. Building the 13.2km bridge is expected to cost up to US$457 million and take three years to be completed once the construction gets underway. The bridge will be built in the Visayas Region of the Philippines and would link a number of islands, replacing the ferry services in use at present. Chinese funding will finance a series of infrastructure projects in Angola. The funding for the projects is being provided by China Credit Line (LCC), with the 15 projects worth a total of US$631 million. Some of the work will be carried out by local contractors while Chinese companies will handle others now that the projects have been awarded by the Angolan Government. The authorities in Bulgaria are in the tender process for the new Sofia-Kalotina highway project. The tender is for a 31.5km section of highway that will connect Bulgarian capital Sofia with Kalotina on the border with Serbia. The deadline for submitting the tender offers is 7th January 2013. Meanwhile in Sofia itself, a €100 million project to improve key roads in the city is now due to commence. Colombia has awarded the tender for the Bogotá-Girardot public-private partnership highway expansion, involving 145km of third lanes.
The national infrastructure agency (ANI) announced the winner as a consortium of units of Colombia's Conconcreto group for US$545 million. The consortia consists of Estructura Plural Vías a Girardot, made up of Industrial Conconcreto (30%) and Constructora Conconcreto (70%).
