A series of road projects is being awarded in Nepal. The announcements over the winning tenders for 13 projects is being made in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. Financing worth US$300 million is being provided from Indian sources.
The Moroccan Government is increasing its investment in roads and highways by 21% from last year. The country intends to spend US$6.32 billion on improving the road network. A further $14.5 billion is expected from private sources and other funding bodies. Work on the El Jadida-Safi highway project will commence in 2012 and is expected to cost $497million. Work on the Tit Mellil-Berrechid highway section will cost $152.55 million. The authorities in Morocco are now assessing 13 bids submitted in the tender
A grant worth US$18.33 million from the Chinese Government has helped fund work in neighbouring Nepal. The funding has been used to develop the road connection stretching from Syprubesi to Rasuwaghdi in Nepal. The 5.5m wide road is a single track connection measuring 16km long and features a tarmac surface. The Syprubesi-Rasuwaghadi road was opened officially on December 27th 2012 and the construction work took 30 months to complete. The new steel-truss bridge linking Simikot in Nepal’s Humla district headquarters has now been inaugurated. The road will link Nepal with Hilsa in China and the bridge will span the Karnali River. This bridge will be completed within a year and the Nepalese Government will award the road construction to the Nepalese Army to speed work.
