A series of road projects is being awarded in Nepal. The announcements over the winning tenders for 13 projects is being made in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. Financing worth US$300 million is being provided from Indian sources.
Canada’s infrastructure minister, Denis Label, officially broke ground for Montreal’s replacement Champlain Bridge, saying the project will likely cost US$3.42 billion.
The 3.4km Champlain Bridge Corridor Project, including spans and highway expansions, is expected to be completed by 2019.

The World Bank is offering funding worth some US$320 million for construction of the 258km Nekempte-Bure road in Ethiopia. In total the project is expected to cost $385 million to build, with the Ethiopian Government providing the remaining $65 million. The Ethiopian Road Authority (ERA) has said that the contractor that wins the tender for the project will also have to maintain the road for five years after construction is completed.
New highway and bridge projects are being planned that will boost connectivity in the Russian Federation. One project lies close to the city of Ufa while another is in the Perm Region. The project to build the new Eastern Exit highway link close to Ufa, capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan, is now expected to cost US$590.1 million, compared with the $503.3 million that was originally anticipated.
