A series of road projects is being awarded in Nepal. The announcements over the winning tenders for 13 projects is being made in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. Financing worth US$300 million is being provided from Indian sources.
Plans for work to a 150km section of the Corridor Vc highway in Bosnia will commence in 2012. Construction of 45km of the highway will be financed by the Government of Federal Bosnia, while the remaining 110km is due to be financed by foreign investors. The cost of the project has not been revealed at this stage. The plans were announced by Bosnia’s Ministry of Urban Planning.
A funding package has been secured that will help pay for a key road project in Nepal. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is providing a loan worth US$180 million that will be used to help pay for widening work to an 87km stretch of the East-West Highway between Kamala and Kanchanpur. At present the route has just one lane in either direction but the upgrade will see the route being widened in a bid to boost capacity and safety, with two lanes in either direction. In Bhutan work is now commencing on a new highway project worth some US$118.4 million. The work involves widening the existing Thimphu-Trashigang highway along its 546km route. The Indian Government has given its approval for Bhutan’s planned budget to widen the highway. A portion of the funding for the work is being provided by Indian sources.
A finance package has been secured in Colombia for the Autopista al Mar 1 highway project. A loan worth close to US$206 million is being provided by the national development bank, Financiera de Desarrollo Nacional (FDN). The highway forms part of Colombia’s 4G infrastructure development plan and the finance package will be provided in three separate tranches. The construction work is being carried out by a consortium comprising Strabag, Concay and Sacyr Concesiones. The project will upgrade the 71km
