A series of road projects is being awarded in Nepal. The announcements over the winning tenders for 13 projects is being made in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. Financing worth US$300 million is being provided from Indian sources.
Infrastructure in Indonesia looks set to benefit from a series of a key highway and bridge projects, now gathering momentum. The country’s State Enterprises Ministry has announced plans for new road building worth a colossal US$25.66 billion. Work on a key highway stretch will commence in September 2014. This highway will connect provinces across the island of Sumatra, with the project looking set to be handled by the state-run firm Hutama Karya. The Indonesian Government has granted Bengkulu $1.22 billion
In the Indian state of Bihar, investment is underway to improve the infrastructure links with neighbouring Nepal. Some US$109 million is being invested in the plan. The new road links will boost transport connections between Nepal and India and provide an economic boost in terms of trade between the two nations.
Nepal's Ministry of Physical Planning and Works, Nepal is conducting Kathmandu valley traffic improvement studies, with assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The Ministry is conducting three surveys. One is based on household interviews.
