Motenegro motorway project underway

Work is now proceeding as planned on a key motorway project in Montenegro, according to the country’s Ministry of Transport and Sea. The project for the new Bar-Boljare motorway is being carried out by the China Road and Bridges Corporation (CRBC), and the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC).

Work is now proceeding as planned on a key motorway project in Montenegro, according to the country’s Ministry of Transport and Sea. The project for the new Bar-Boljare motorway is being carried out by the China Road and Bridges Corporation (CRBC), and the 2661 China Communications Construction Company (CCCC). The Montenegro Government is investing over €800 million in the project.

Meanwhile funding worth €840.35 million for the project has been borrowed from China's Exim Bank. This has a repayment period and of over 20 years a grace period of six years, with the interest rate of 2%. The motorway route may have be amended by the contractors due to challenges with the existing alignment and the works is due for completion by 2020.
