Japanese funding will help pay for the construction of a key bridge link in Sri Lanka. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is providing a loan worth US$292.14 million for the bridge project. The new link will span the Kelani River.
The road linking Uganda with Sudan is being rebuilt with loans coming from the Japanese Government and the US-based World Bank. The cost of improving the road between Gulu and Atiak in Uganda and Nimule in Sudan is expected to be around US$245 million.
Funding worth US$1.54 billion is helping to finance a series of infrastructure projects in New Zealand. Some $980 million will help pay for the half-tunnelled 4.8km Waterview Connection. A further $350 million is being used for the widening of a 10km stretch from St Lukes Rd interchange to Lincoln Rd. A portion of the funding is also being used for upgrading the Maioro motorway interchange in New Windsor. Much of the funding for the completion work necessary for Pakistan’s M-4 Highway is being provided by the Asian Development Bank. This will come in the shape of a loan worth US$100 million.
