Italian funding to complete Angolan highway

Work on Angola’s Luanda-Soyo highway section is being financed from Italian sources. The Italian export credit agency and credit insurer SACE is guaranteeing a US$221.8 million credit line to Angola's Ministry of Finance for completing works on the final stretch of the Luanda-Soyo highway. The work on the project is being carried out by Italian civil engineering firm CMC Ravenna. The project itself is worth some $336.8 million.     Funding for improvements to a major road connection between Kenya and Uganda will be provided by the African Development Bank (AfDB). In all US$253 of financing will be provided for the road improvement work to the 118km stretch of road.     A fleet of Wirtgen machines is helping build a section of a major highway in Romania, the Transylvanian Autostrada A3. This 588km road connects Romanian capital Bucharest with the Hungarian border and links to the Hungarian M4 highway.     The National Road No 2 project in Senegal is to benefit from partial funding being provided by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD). The new National Road No 2 project will run 336km and connect Ndioum, Ourossogui and Bakel, with the ADFD supplying US$14.4 million for the highway construction. The source of the remaining funding required for the project has yet to be announced. One the highway has been constructed it will help boost transport and lower journey times.
