Interest in investment in Indonesian infrastructure

Strong interest in investment in Indonesian infrastructure is being reported. Work is starting on a series of major infrastructure projects. Strong interest in investment in Indonesian infrastructure is being reported. Work is starting on a series of major infrastructure projects. The groundbreaking for the trans-Sumatra toll road has been carried out. The toll road will link Aceh to Lampung and is one of a series of major projects commencing in the country. The Indonesian Government has increased its allocation for capital expenditure from US$12.03 billion to $22.36 billion for 2015. Infrastructure development in 2015 is expected to fuel the country's economic growth to 7%, up from 5% in 2014. Infrastructure projects expected to start construction in June 2015 include a seaport in Makassar, a toll road project in South Sumatra and the toll road in Lampung.

    Work is said to be progressing on track in Indonesia with the Trans-Sumatra tolled highway. Construction of the section linking Aceh and Lampung Provinces looks set to be completed by the end of 2014 and is expected to open for traffic in early 2015. So far the work looks to cost in the region of US$625 million, with work being carried out by Hutama Karya. Meanwhile plans are also in hand for a new toll road for heavy trucks only that will connect West Java's Citibung and North Jakarta's Tanjung Priok Port.
