Indonesia planning more highways projects

The Indonesian Government is looking to source funding for a key highway project from the Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). The funding will be used for the highway connecting North and East Kalimantan. This project is expected to cost US$250 million.

The Indonesian Government is looking to source funding for a key highway project from the Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). The funding will be used for the highway connecting North and East Kalimantan. This project is expected to cost US$250 million. Other infrastructure works to benefit from financing through the AIIB include a $292 million railway upgrade, a potable water project and upgrades to telecommunications. These projects have been proposed by Indonesia’s Development Planning Agency and will require a total of $1 billion in loans. The AIIB will start providing its loans from April 2016.
