Go-ahead for new Saudi Arabia highway

In Saudi Arabia the go-ahead has been given for a new expressway that will connect Qassim with Makkah. The project is worth some US$1.2 billion and will include the construction of service facilities along the route. Details regarding the tender process or any technical features of the project have yet to be revealed.

    Taxis in Saudi Arabia must equipped with an Automated Vehicle Locators (AVL) system, as part of new regulations set to be introduced on 22 October, 2012. The AVL will record the drop-off and pick-up location of the taxis as well as their driving speed. Taxi firms will also need to include minimum third-party insurance coverage for each driver and vehicle.
