Colombian highway construction concessions due

A major programme of PPP road construction concession contracts is due for Colombia. This has been given the go ahead by Colombia's National Council for Economic and Social Policy (Conpes). The programme is for a second round of 4G highway concessions through PPPs, worth up to US$16.5 billion in all, with 10 highway projects to be built. These are: the Autopista Mar 1; Autopista Mar 2; Neiva-Girardot; Villavicencio-Yopal; Rumichaca-Pasto; Puerta de Hierro-Palmar de Varela-Cruz del Viso; Santana-Mocoa-Neiva/

A major programme of PPP road construction concession contracts is due for Colombia. This has been given the go ahead by Colombia's National Council for Economic and Social Policy (Conpes). The programme is for a second round of 4G highway concessions through PPPs, worth up to US$16.5 billion in all, with 10 highway projects to be built. These are: the Autopista Mar 1; Autopista Mar 2; Neiva-Girardot; Villavicencio-Yopal; Rumichaca-Pasto; Puerta de Hierro-Palmar de Varela-Cruz del Viso; Santana-Mocoa-Neiva/Neiva-Campoalegre-Gigante-Garzon-San Juan de Villalobos-Mocoa-Santana; Santander de Quilichao-Popayan; Barrancabermeja-Bucaramanga; and Sisga-El Secreto.

Meanwhile Spanish contractor 980 OHL Concesiones has been granted the contract to develop the 144km Autopista Rio Magdalena 2 highway. This forms part of the first phase of the Autopistas de la Prosperidad-4G road projects. The company submitted an offer of $463 million, 11.3% below the budget established by the government for the project. In addition, the tender for the construction of the Mulalo-Loboguerrero highway will be announced by December 2014. Other contracts to be granted include the Autopista al Mar 1 (Medellin-Canasgordas), Autopista al Mar 2 (Canasgordas-El Tigre, Chigorodo) and Autopista al Rio Madgalena 1 (Porcecito-Alto de Dolores, Maceo), which will be awarded in the first quarter of 2015.
