Budget set for transport in Australia’s New South Wales

Major transport development is set to commence in the Australian state of New South Wales following the setting of a new budget by the authorities.

Major transport development is set to commence in the Australian state of New South Wales following the setting of a new budget by the authorities. The budget for the 2017-2018 period will see some US$8.38 billion (A$11 billion) being spent on transport projects. One of the biggest projects budgeted is for the construction of the WestConnex motorway, costing US$2.44 billion (A$3.2 billion). A further US$495 million (A$650 million) is being spent on improving the roads close to the new Western Sydney Airport.

Building the new road connection is expected to help lower peak time congestion and journey times for drivers.
