Proposed 6km toll road could link Russia’s M4 Don highway to Domodedovo road

The Russian Ministry of Transport is considering the construction of a new six kilometre toll road that will connect the M4 Don highway to the existing road to Domodedovo (A105). The Transport Ministry says that Domodedovo’s civic leaders support the project. Construction of the new toll road will cost an estimated €214.11 million (RUB 10 billion).

The country’s Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev, has signed a funding provision decree worth over €860.14 million (RUB 40 billion) for these works over the period 2014-2016. The Federal Road Agency will receive €66.32 million (RUB 3.09bn) in 2014, €230.72 million (RUB 10.75bn) in 2015, and €195.31 million (RUB 9.1bn) in 2016. The Federal Air Transport Agency will get €119.

    Construction work is commencing shortly for Moscow’s Central Ring Road (CRR) project. The new route should be ready for traffic in 2019-2020. The contract for the stretch of the route lying between the M4 Don and the M7 Volga highway is being awarded. In all the CRR will measure 530km long and is expected to cost US$5.43 billion to construct.
