The innovative Carmix 3500 TC unit is now being put to work at the Concheño underground extraction operation in Mexico

This operation in the state of Chihuahua was opened in 2013 and can produce 15000tonnes/day. In this context, Minera Real de Angeles opted for four 8074 Carmix 3500 TC machines for the construction of access roads. The machine is said to be both versatile and productive, while its comparatively compact dimensions are well suited to underground use. The unit was supplied to the customer by Carmix dealer Tracsa. The reliability of Carmix machines was already well known to the team at the operation, which had been using an earlier generation model for two years. At the beginning of 2017, the quality and versatility of the equipment, along with the prompt availability of spares and customer service, prompted Minera Real de Angeles to order four 3500 TC machines.

Indeed, what they required was to have highly efficient machines, able to work in extremely harsh conditions and travel on very bumpy dirt roads with 20-30° degree slopes, in a particularly humid microclimate. The new 3500 TC machines have proved an efficient solution to reach even hard to access areas of the operation safely. Moreover, they have helped to increase the operation's concrete productivity.

Mexico motorway opening

Mexico’s Carretera Palmillas - Apaseo el Grande motorway connection is now open to traffic. The highway cost US$380 million to construct and connects the Mexico-Querétaro highway with the Bajío region. The 86km section of the route was built by ICA for the SCT. The new road link will carry 15,000 vehicles/day, running from Palmillas - Apaseo El Grande.

The route was opened by Mexico’s president, Enrique Peña Nieto and the new highway is now called "Centenario de la Constitución". This A4 category route allows vehicles to travel at speeds of up to 110km/h.
