Sennebogen gives Danube bridge restoration a lift

Built in the 12th century, the Stone Bridge spans the River Danube as the most significant emblem of the city of Regensburg, in southern Germany. Built in the 12th century, the Stone Bridge spans the River Danube as the most significant emblem of the city of Regensburg, in southern Germany. In the course of the protracted restoration work, Strabag is using a new 2924 Sennebogen 608 Multicrane for various lifting and construction tasks.

Although the historic structure of the city was built within only 11 years, between 1135 and 1146, the restoration tasks for the Stone Bridge at Regensburg have been underway for three years and are not expected to be completed until the end of 2017.

Currently the existing access ramp to the Oberer Wöhrd municipal area is being rebuilt by 945 Strabag’s Roding Branch, partly with the help of the 608 Multicrane as a construction site crane.

Equipped with a 91kW diesel engine, and thanks to the compact dimensions and convenient all-wheel steering, the mobile 608 model is said to be particularly well-suited for this deployment site, located between the two arms of the Danube. At a height of just 3.15m and a width of 2.55m, the machine is easy to move and can also be used under the narrow arches of the bridge.
