New bridge connections are being installed in rural Malaysia that will help improve connectivity. New bridge connections are being installed in rural Malaysia that will help improve connectivity.


The bridge and engineering services specialist Mabey has supplied five of its latest Compact 200 bridges to the state of Sarawak in Malaysia. This rings the number of Mabey bridges installed in Malaysia in the past five years to 89.

With around 42% of the country’s population living in rural areas, the new bridges are helping to improve ransport and connectivity, boosting economic development. Working to tackle this problem and link up communities in the area, Mabey is working with the Royal Engineers Regiment of the Malaysian Army to install the new Compact 200 bridges, which will cross the river between Nanga Merit and Belaga.
