Moscow-based crane rental company TOPKRAN-RENT has purchased four new Potain Hup cranes

The deal is of note as these are the first units of this type to be sold in Russia. The four new Hup 40-30 self-erecting cranes are being put to work on a four-month project in the capital.

TOPKRAN-RENT is already familiar with the 5916 Potain self-erecting cranes from 2123 Manitowoc, having previously purchased several Igo 50 cranes – the biggest model in the Igo range. Like the existing Igo cranes from the firm, the new Hup range is suited to use in space-restricted job sites, with an added capacity for lifting ability at increased height.

Vitaly Laptev, general director of TOPKRAN-RENT, said: “We chose the Hup cranes because of their high capacity from a relatively small package, and for their height under hook and versatility.”

The Hup range was designed to offer features such as increased speed, efficiency and versatility. The Hup 32-27 was the first model offered in the range and has a maximum capacity of 4tonnes, while being able to lift 1tonne at its maximum radius of 32m. The range also includes the Hup 40-30, which has a jib length of 40m and also features a telescopic mast. The novel design allows a height under hook attainable of 25.6m with the mast in its lower position and 30m when fully telescoped. The design is said to improve logistics, as no extra mast is required to install the crane.

Further versatility is delivered due to the design of the luffing jib, which offers three configurations: horizontal, 10° and 20°. These options give the crane a height under hook range of 20-40m. Shortening or extending the jib is said to be quick and straightforward, with the Hup 40-30 offering convenient configurations for both short and long jib lengths.

With a transport package that is only 14m long when folded, the Hup 40-30 is said to be easy to move from job site to job site. The crane can also be operated close to structures due to its slewing design.

TOPKRAN-RENT is a large-scale rental company in Russia for tower cranes, mobile cranes and crawler cranes. It is well-established in Moscow but covers the entire country.
