Zambia has plans to build a series of new road links in various parts of the country. The roads will be built in Zambia’s Copperbelt Province, Central Province, Northern Province and Northwestern Province.
In all the roads will stretch for a total of 1,000km. The Chinese contractor China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC) has been in discussions with the Zambian Government to build the roads. The work will be managed by Zambia’s Road Development Agency (RDA). The cost of the work has yet to be revealed.
The roads will improve connectivity by linking the country’s main highways with more rural areas, helping to boost transport and overall economic development. The country’s Copperbelt Province has been particularly important for the country’s economy over the years due to the large scale of the copper mining business.
