Work resumes on Indonesian tollway

Construction work on Indonesia’s Bekasi-Jakarta toll road has recommenced after a break of close to 20 years. Construction work on Indonesia’s Bekasi-Jakarta toll road has recommenced after a break of close to 20 years.  The work on the 21km Bekasi-Jakarta toll road was originally started by Kresna Kusuma Dyandra Marga (KKDM), a consortium headed by state-run Waskita Karya, with a 60% share in the package. However work on the project was stopped in the late 1990s due to the Asian financial crisis. The deal for the link will see KKDM operating the toll road, which is costing US$600 million. State funds worth some $29.2 million will pay for the necessary acquisition of land required for the work. The toll road construction will be carried out be in two sections; the 10km Jaka Sampurna-Duren Jaya stretch; the 11km Casablanca-Jaka Sampurna stretch. Completion of the $325 million Casablanca-Jaka Sampura section is due within 36 months. Of the funding required for this section, 70% will be from bank loans Waskita providing the rest.

    Indonesian toll road operator Jasa Marga is keen to source funding to finance 10 new highway projects. The company is looking for loans in the shape of bond issuances as well as from banking firms. The 10 highway projects will extend for a total distance of 272.45km in all. Jasa Marga hopes to source loans worth a total of US$215.46 million for the work. However in all the projects are expected to cost some $306.37 million to construct.

    Construction work on a new toll road connection is due to commence in Indonesia in mid-2019. The 120km road connecting Solo, Yogyakarta and Kulonprogo will be built by the Adhi Karya (ADHI) consortium. The project is costing an estimated US$1.25 billion and should take 36 months to complete.
