Work commencing on key Mexican route

Construction work is now underway on a major highway link in Mexico. The new highway will connect Atizapan with Atlacomulco. The work is costing close to US$447 million and completion of the project will help reduce congestion along the existing route while boosting safety and cutting travel times. Once the work is complete, the journey time will be reduced from the present two hours to just 45 minutes.

    A 25km section of Guadalajara’s new bypass route in Mexico’s Jalisco State is now open to traffic. This section of the route cost just under US$81 million to construct.     In Turkey plans are moving forward for the construction of a new tunnel link in Güzeldere. The project is worth some US$177 million and requires the construction of twin tunnels measuring 3km long. The new tunnels will reduce journey times from 45 minutes at present to just 5 minutes.
