Work begins on Zhangjiakou section of China’s Erenhot-Qinhuangdao expressway

Work is underway in China's Hebei province on the Zhangjiakou section of Erenhot-Qinhuangdao expressway. A total of US$1.12 billion (CNY 7 billion) will be invested in the 130.13km section, which will span between Dongtan Village of Guyuan County and Bainaobao Village of Kangbao County.

    Work on the new 218.5-kilometre Mianyang-Jiuzhaigou Expressway in Sichuan province, China is expected to begin later this year. Upon completion of the US$4.91 billion (CNY 30.58 billion) megaproject, the travel time from Chengdu city in the province to Jiuzhaigou via the expressway will take only 210 minutes. The expressway is expected to be completed within 60 months and is scheduled to be operational no later than 31 December 2018. Meanwhile, construction of the Ziyuan-Xing'an highway has fully started.

    A total of US$2.42 billion is being invested in five high-speed road projects in China's Henan Province. The highways have a total length of 205km and construction work is already underway. Some $1.2 billion will be spent on the 108km road link between Dengfeng City and Weishi Expressway with a length of around 108km, while $377 million will be invested in a 37km road project connecting Wuxi Expressway and Yuntai Mountain.     China’s new longest highway is due to be completed by the end of June 2014. Around 97% of Xinjiang region's 428.9km Aksu-Kashgar highway is said to have been completed to date. The new route will eventually cost just over US$2 billion (CNY 12.3 billion) and is scheduled to open at the end of September 2014.
