Vietnam’s north-south highway being planned

Plans are being formalised for Vietnam’s massive North-South Expressway project. The tolled route will stretch 1,372km and the project will be split into 20 separate sections, with the work being carried out in two separate phases.

Plans are being formalised for Vietnam’s massive North-South Expressway project. The tolled route will stretch 1,372km and the project will be split into 20 separate sections, with the work being carried out in two separate phases.

The first phase will be 713km long and will be carried out from 2017-2025, while it will cost an estimated US$5.74 billion. The project will be carried out under the build-operate-transfer model, with funding split between the Vietnamese Government and private investors.

The project will provide a much improved connection between the country’s north and south, speeding transport and boosting safety. It will feature from four to six lanes and have speed limits ranging between 80km/h and 120km/h.
